• crypt mitoses present
• crypt nuclei uniform
• epithelial lymphocytes dispersed, ~1/5 epithelial cells
• plasma cells in lamina propria
• smooth muscle extends into villus
• villus:crypt ratio 3:1
• Brunner glands
