Alclometasone Topical (Aclovate, Acloson, Delonal)

Indications

• topical treatment of inflammatory dermatoses
  • seborrheic dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis,
• allergies
• psoriasis
• cutaneous T-cell lymphoma
• discoid lupus
• granuloma annulare
• lichen simplex chronicus
• pruritus, including anal pruritus

Dosage

• apply thin film to affected area BID-TID

Cream: 0.05% (15 g, 45 g)

Ointment: 0.05% (15 g, 45 g)

Adverse effects

• not common (1-10%)
  • itching, erythema, dryness, papular rashes, burning, irritation
• uncommon (< 1%)
  • hypertrichosis, acneiform eruptions, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, maceration of skin, skin atrophy, striae, miliaria

• drug adverse effects of glucocorticoids
• drug adverse effects of topical glucocorticoids
• drug adverse effects of immunosuppressive agents

Mechanism of action

• anti-inflammatory; topical glucocorticoid class 6
