Disorders common to men & women:
- considerations for cardiovascular disease in women
- shorter reproductive duration (menarche to menopause) associated with increased risk of heart failure[10]
- hyperlipidemia, type 2 diabetes, obesity & tobacco confer greater risk for coronary artery disease in women than in men[12]
- presentation of women with atypical chest pain often delays diagnosis of coronary artery disease
- vegetables (broccoli & spinach) may attentuate cognitive decline
women > 60 years of age at higher risk for Alzheimer's disease than for breast cancer[6]
male physicians with more exposure to female patients & female physicians have more success treating female patients with myocardial infarction[11]
