  • Male & Female: Serum: 30- 110 U/L

Specimen

No special patient preparation is necessary.

Sample preparation: Collect the specimen by standard venipuncture technique. Use Lithium or sodium heparin as an anticoagulant for plasma specimens. Plasma values are approximately 20 uL higher than serum values.

Urine: Collect timed or random specimens by standard laboratory procedures. Timed specimens are preferred: DO NOT USE URINE CONTAINING CHELATING AGENTS. (e.g. citrates, oxalates, or EDTA)

Special Precautions:

Serum or Plasma: See Sample Dilution for grossly lipemic specimens. Refrigerate or freeze samples that cannot be analyzed immediately.

Do not use calcium-chelating anticoagulants such as oxalates, citrated, & EDTA.

Minimum sample size 0.5 milliliters with an optimum size of 1.0 milliliter or larger.
