Uses
- sedative
- antispasmodic for treatment of bronchial spasms
- intestinal or biliary colic
- motion sickness
- hemorrhoidal suppository
- used for treatment of menopausal symptoms
Dosage
- 50-100 mg of belladonna leaf powder
- single dose of 200 mg is 0.6 mg of total alkaloid calculated as hyocyamine
- maximum dose is 600 mg
Adverse effects
- anticholinergic
- dry mouth
- dilation of pupils
- blurred vision
- hyperthermia
- tachycardia
