Function
- role in antigen-capturing
- targets ligand into antigen processing & peptide-loading compartments for presentation to T-cells
- may mediate potent inhibition of induction of IFN-alpha/beta expression in plasmacytoid dendritic cells
- may act as a signaling receptor that activates protein-tyrosine kinases & mobilizes intracellular Ca+2
- does not seem to bind mannose
Structure
- contains 1 C-type lectin domain
Compartment
- membrane; single-pass type 2 membrane protein (probable)
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=2
Expression
- expressed in plasmacytoid dendritic cells
- constitutively expressed in immature monocyte-derived dendritic cells
- significantly down-regulated upon maturation with LPS but not with TNF-alpha
