• synaptic vesicle maturation in most excitatory/glutamatergic but NOT in inhibitory/GABA-mediated synapses
• secretory granule priming in insulin secretion
• interacts with the N-terminus of STX1A &/or STX1B1
• interacts with the N-terminus of DOC2A
• interacts with RIMS1, BSN
• component of complex consisting of ERC2, RIMS1 & UNC13A
