Introduction

Oncogenes:

• c-myc
• K-ras mutations (~15-20% non small cell carcinomas, not small cell carcinoma)

Overexpressed proteins:

• EGFR
• cyclin D1
• bcl-2 protein

Tumor suppressor genes:

• p53 (~90% small cell carcinoma, ~50% non small cell carcinoma)
• Rb (~90% small cell carcinoma, ~20% non small cell carcinoma)
• p16 (<1% small cell carcinoma, >50% non small cell carcinoma)

Other less frequently involved: FHIT, RASFF1A, SEMA3B, PTEN, hOGG1, BAP1
