Function
- catalyzes the conversion of phosphatidic acid to diacylglycerol
- in addition it hydrolyzes lysophosphatidic acid, ceramide-1-phosphate & sphingosine-1-phosphate
- the relative catalytic efficiency is lysophosphatidic acid = phosphatidic acid > ceramide-1-phosphate > sphingosine-1-phosphate
- may be involved in cell adhesion & in cell-cell interactions
- inhibited by sphingosine, Zn+2 & propanolol
- not inhibited by N-ethylmaleimide treatment
Structure
- homodimer; dimerization seems not to be involved in substrate recognition, but may confer only structural or functional stability
- N-glycosylated, contains high-mannose oligosaccharides
- belongs to the PA-phosphatase related phosphoesterase family
Compartment
-Golgi, trans-Golgi network membrane
Expression
- ubiquitously expressed
- highly expressed in heart & placenta
- induced by
More general terms
- lipid phosphate phosphohydrolase; phosphatidate phosphohydrolase
- transmembrane 6 protein
- glycoprotein
