Function
- ARD1-NARG1 complex with acetyltransferase activity
- vascular, hematopoietic & neuronal growth & development
- retinal neovascularisation in adult ocular endothelial cells
- in complex with XRCC6 (G22P1) & XRCC5 (Ku80), up-regulates transcription from osteocalcin promoter
- interacts with XRCC6 (G22P1), XRCC5, ARD1
- cleaved by caspases during apoptosis; results in stable 35 kD fragment
Structure
contains 8 TPR repeats
Compartment
cytoplasmic, nuclear in some cases
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=2
Expression
- expressed at high levels in testis & ocular endothelial cells, brain (corpus callosum), heart, colon, bone marrow
- lower levels in most adult tissues
Pathology
- overexpressed in:
- gastric cancer
- papillary thyroid carcinoma
- Burkitt lymphoma cell line (Daudi cells).
- specifically suppressed in abnormal proliferating blood vessels in eyes of patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy
