Function
- activity is required for IL-6 induced differentiation
- may play a role in the growth & differentiation of hematopoietic cells
- may be involved in signal transduction in endocardial & arterial endothelial cells
- interacts with RUFY1 & RUFY2
- activated by IL-6 through phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3-kinase) pathway
Cofactor: binds 1 Zn+2 per subunit (putative)
Structure
- SH2 domain mediates interaction with RUFY1
- belongs to the protein kinase superfamily, Tyr protein kinase family, TEC subfamily
- contains 1 Btk-type Zn+2 finger
- contains 1 PH domain; it is likely that activation occurs through binding of phosphoinositides to the PH domain
- contains 1 protein kinase domain
- contains 1 SH2 domain
Compartment
cytoplasm (probable)
Expression
- preferentially expressed in epithelial cells & endothelial cells
