C-X-C motif chemokine 13; angie; B cell-attracting chemokine 1; BCA-1; B lymphocyte chemoattractant; CXC chemokine BLC; small-inducible cytokine B13 (CXCL13, BCA1, BLC, SCYB13)

Function
- chemotactic for B-lymphocytes
- not chemotactic for T-lymphocytes, monocytes or neutrophils
- does not induce Ca+2 release in B- lymphocytes
- binds to BLR1/CXCR5
- aryl hydrocarbon receptor is a potent negative regulator of CXCL13 production by human CD4+ T-cells
Structure
- belongs to the intercrine alpha (chemokine CxC) family
Compartment
Expression
- highest levels in liver, followed by spleen, lymph node, appendix & stomach
- low levels in salivary gland, mammary gland & fetal spleen
- aryl hydrocarbon receptor coordinates with JUN to prevent CXCL13+ T-cell differentiation & promote an IL-22+ phenotype
Pathology
- in connection with IFN-alpha & aryl hydrocarbon receptor plays a role in systemic lupus erythematosus
