Function

• tyrosine protein phosphatase
• dosage-dependent inducer in mitotic control
• required forprogression of the cell cycle
• directly dephosphorylates CDC2 & activates its kinase activity
• interacts with HIV-1 Vpr, thereby inactivating CDC25C phosphatase activity
• phosphorylated by CHK1 on Ser-216, this creates a binding site for 14-3-3 protein & inhibits the phosphatase
