Function
- tyrosine protein phosphatase
- dosage-dependent inducer in mitotic control
- required forprogression of the cell cycle
- directly dephosphorylates CDC2 & activates its kinase activity
- interacts with HIV-1 Vpr, thereby inactivating CDC25C phosphatase activity
- phosphorylated by CHK1 on Ser-216, this creates a binding site for 14-3-3 protein & inhibits the phosphatase
protein tyrosine phosphate + H2O <--> protein tyrosine + phosphate
Structure
- belongs to the MPI phosphatase family
- contains 1 rhodanese domain
Compartment
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=5
Expression
- expressed predominantly in G2 phase
