• during this transamidation reaction, the GPI transamidase forms a carbonyl intermediate with the substrate protein
• glycolipid biosynthesis; GPI-anchor biosynthesis
• the disulfide bond between PIGK/GPI8 & PIGT is important for normal enzyme activity
• forms a complex with PIGT, PIGS, PIGU & GAA1
