Function
- GTP-binding protein
- very weak activator of ADP-ribosyltransferase (putative)
- can activate phospholipase D with very low efficiency
- role in normal function of the Golgi
- GTP-bound form interacts with GOLGA1 & POR1
- interacts with SCOC
- GTP-bound form interacts with GOLGA4
Structure
belongs to the small GTPase superfamily, Arf family
Compartment
- Golgi membrane
- peripheral membrane protein; cytoplasmic side
Expression
- detected in heart, liver, lung & liver (at protein level)
- detected in fetal heart, lung, liver & kidney
- detected in adult heart, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney & pancreas
Pathology
- very low efficiency as allosteric activator of the cholera toxin catalytic subunit
