Classification
- two major types:
- discrete or membranous
- fibromuscular (fixed or dynamic) (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy)
Etiology
Pathology
- commonly associated with aortic regurgitation
- high pressure gradient from left ventricle to aorta
Clinical manifestations
- prominent left ventricle
- reduced pulse pressure
- no ejection click
- arterial thrill when stenosis is severe
- hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy
