Introduction
A high-pitched sound following S1.
* An S1 implies that pliability of the valve is maintained.
Etiology
- aortic stenosis, heard best at the apex of the heart
- pulmonic stenosis, heard best at the left sternal border
- dilatation of the aortic root
- dilatation of the pulmonary artery.
- bicuspid aortic valve (without aortic stenosis)[1]
* systolic click of mitral valve prolapse is not described as an ejection click[3]
