Function
- acts as a factor that allows DNA to undergo a single round of replication per cell cycle
- required for DNA replication & cell proliferation
- required for S-phase checkpoint activation upon UV-induced damage
- phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR
- interacts with the ATR-ATRIP complex & with RAD17
- interacts with TIPIN
- forms a stable trimeric complex with CDC21 & p105MCM; protein BM28/Mcm2 is more loosely associated with the trimeric complex
