Introduction
- USPSTF recommends against screening for pancreatic cancer[1]
- risk of pancreatic cancer associated with new onset hyperglycemia varies with race/ethnicity; screening is not recommended[2]
- persons at high-risk for pancreatic cancer may benefit from early detection[3]
- inherited predisposition to pancreatic cancer pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma susceptibility genes include
- BRCA1, BRCA2, ATM, PALB2, STK11, CDKN2A, & mismatch repair genes that cause Lynch syndrome.
- family history of pancreatic cancer in at least two first-degree relatives[4][5]
- genetic counseling if prior history of breast cancer
- multiple pancreatic cancer susceptibility genes are associated with both breast cancer & pancreatic cancer, including BRCA1, BRCA2, ATM, PALB2, & STK11
- a multigene panel is currently recommended[4][6]
- new-onset diabetes mellitus
- mucinous pancreatic cyst
- chronic pancreatitis
- inherited predisposition to pancreatic cancer pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma susceptibility genes include
