• upper respiratory tract inflammation
• pharyngitis
• laxative

Contraindications

• pregnancy
• liver disease
• hypokalemia

Dosage

• 1-4 grams of dry root
• 1 cup of tea TID

Adverse effects

• pseudoaldosteronism
  • hypertension
  • lethargy
  • Na+ retention & H2O retention (edema)
  • hypokalemia
    • 2 oz. a day for >= 2 weeks

Drug interactions

• antihypertensive agents
• diuretics
• digoxin
