Introduction

Indications
- dyspepsia, stress ulcer prophylaxis[3]
- gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), hiatal hernia
- peptic ulcer disease (PUD)
- constipation
- bowel preparation[3]

Dosage
Liquid: 400 mg/5 mL.
Pharmacokinetics
- usual duration of action is 30-60 minutes
- when given after meals, may last up to 3 hours
- elimination :route kidney
Adverse effects
- diarrhea
- with chronic use, patients may develop hypermagnesemia
Drug interactions
decreases absorption of many medications
