Indications
- symptomatic treatment of dyspepsia, GERD & peptic ulcer disease (PUD)
Contraindications
pregnancy-category +, ? (1st trimester)

elimination: kidney
Adverse effects
- constipation
- decrease in GI motility
- long term use in patients with renal failure may result in aluminum toxicity
- diarrhea may occur with magnesium-containing products
- long-term use of magnesium-containing products in patients with renal failure may lead to hypermagnesemia
Mechanism of action
- neutralizes gastric acid

- Maalox Plus & Mylanta II have added simethicone
