Indications
- peripheral vascular disease
- peripheral artery disease refractory to medical therapy
- relief of ischemic pain at rest, skin ulceration, or gangrene
Contraindications
- poor surgical candidates
- frailty*
* among nursing home residents, few become ambulatory, & many die within 1 year of surgery[1]

Complications
- 30-day unplanned readmission rate 18%, many due to post-operative infections[2]
