Function
- enhances binding of IGF2BP1 to N6-methyladenosine (m6A)-containing mRNAs, thus increasing mRNA stability
- increases interaction of IGF2BP1 with RNA stabilizers ELAVL1/HUR, MATR3 & PABPC1
- increases interaction of RNA stabilizers ELAVL1/HUR, MATR3 & PABPC1 with m6A-containing mRNAs
- contributes to MYC stability by enhancing binding of IGF2BP1 to m6A-containing MYC mRNAs & increasing recruitment of RNA stabilizing proteins to m6A-containing MYC mRNAs
- interacts with IGF2BP1 (via KH3 & KH4 domains) resulting in increased binding of IGF2BP1 to N6-methyladenosine (m6A)-containing mRNAs
Expression
- detected in colon (at protein level)
Pathology
- promotes colon cancer cell growth, colony formation, migration & invasion through enhanced stability of MYC expressed in colorectal cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer & nasopharyngeal cancer cells
- higher levels are found in colon cancer cells than in adjacent nontumor tissue
Notes
- could be the product of a pseudogene
