Function
- produced only during pregnancy
- role in stimulating lactation, fetal growth & metabolism
- does not interact with GHR
- only activates PRLR through Zn+2-induced dimerization[2]
Structure
- belongs to the somatotropin/prolactin family
- CSH1 sequence only differs from CSH2 sequence in 1 amino acid residue
- can be found in a monomeric as well as dimeric form[3]
