Etiology
- hypotheses
- endocrine disturbance
- disorder of keratinization
- abnormal host reaction to fungi or bacteria
- hereditary disorder
- variant of amyloidosis[1]
Epidemiology
- rare
- generally affects young people
Clinical manifestations
- often asymptomatic
- may experience mild pruritus
- reticulated & pigmented macules, patches, & plaques most commonly on the chest
- exacerbations & remissions
Management
- no treatment is necessary other than for eradication of rash
- oral minocycline
- topical mupirocin
- 70% isopropanol swabbing for hyperpigmentation
- weight reduction may be of benefit
