Introduction
Tradename: Bactroban.
Indications
- topical treatment of impetigo due to S. aureus, beta-hemolytic Streptococcus & S. pyogenes.
- eradication of nasal colonization of pathogen carriers with MRSA
- apparently MRSA resistance develops
- furunculosis[3]
- ecthyma
- folliculitis
- epidermolysis bullosa
- prevention of infection from traumatic wounds[3]
Dosage
Ointment: 2% (15 g, 30 g). Bactroban nasal 1 g tube, carton of 10.
Adverse effects
- not common (1-10%)
