Function
- may act as a scaffold protein that may assemble active IkB kinase complex & MAP3K14 complex
- subunit of the RNA polymerase 2 elongator complex, thus may play a role in chromatin remodeling & acetylation of histones H3 & H4
- interacts preferentially with MAP3K14/NIK followed by IKK-alpha & IKK-beta
- associates with the C-terminal domain (CTD) of POLR2A
- interacts with ELP3
- phosphorylated
Structure
belongs to the ELP1/IKA1 family
Compartment
Pathology
- defects in IKBKAP are the cause of familial dysautonomia (Riley-Day syndrome)
