anterior (medial) femoral cutaneous nerve (anterior cutaneous nerve of the thigh)

Origin

• femoral nerve (L2-L4)

Innervation

• supplies skin on medial & anterior aspects of thigh extending to the patella

Course

• descend over the quadriceps & become cutaneous by piercing the fascia lata of thigh at the apex of the femoral triangle
• medial branches descend deep to the fascia lata in the groove between the sartorius & adductor muscles
