Indications
- alternative agent for treatment of chloroquine-resistant malaria
* potential to be repurposed as COVID-19 therapy[3]
Contraindications
Dosage
- 8 mg/kg repeated at 6 & 12 hours
- may be repeated in 1 week in patients without immunity
Adverse effects
- abdominal pain
- diarrhea
- pruritus
- dose-related prolongation of PR & QTc
Drug interactions
- other agents that prolong the QT interval
- quinine
- quinidine
- mefloquine
