Dosage
1 drop OU BID. 0.3% (5 mL, 10 mL).
Pharmacokinetics
- initial reduction of intraocular pressure in 30 minutes
- maximal reduction of intraocular pressure in 2 hours
- duration of action: up to 24 hours
Adverse effects
- common (> 10%)
- mild ocular stinging & discomfort (transient, 56%)
- eye irritation
- less common (1-10%)
- uncommon (< 1%)
- conjunctivitis, blepharitis, bradycardia, AV block, congestive heart failure (CHF), asthenia, tearing, erythema, itching, keratitis, photophobia, decreased corneal sensitivity, bronchospasm
- drug adverse effects of beta-adrenergic receptor antagonists
- drug adverse effects of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system inhibitors (RAAS inhibitors)
- drug adverse effects of antihypertensive agents
Mechanism of action
- non-selective beta blocker
- reduces aqueous humor production
