Pathology
- aggressive malignancy of meningeal origin
Microscopic pathology

- characteristic 'staghorn' vascular spaces or numerous small slit-like vascular spaces lined by flattened endothelial cells
- highly cellular, monotonous, randomly oriented plump cells with scant ill-defined cytoplasm
- dense network of reticulin fibers Immunohistochemsitry:
- vimentin ~85% +
- factor XIIIa ~80% +
- leu-7 ~70% +
- CD34 variable % +
Management
Prognosis:
- tendency to recur & metastasize; generally regarded as malignant although some are less aggressive.
- corresponds to WHO histological grade II or III.
