• inhibits cytotoxic effects of TNF-alpha & overexpressed TNF receptor adapters TRADD, FADD, & RIPK1
• role in TGF-beta1 inhibition of IkappaB-alpha expression & suppression of TNF-mediated IkappaB-alpha degradation

• up-regulated in chronic & acute allograft rejection: expressed in the inflammatory infiltrate & in tubular epithelial cells

• the TIAF1 protein is coded in the 3'-UTR region of MYO18A
