Function
- role in the process of myofiber differentiation & maturation
- component of ECS (Elongin-Cullin-SOCS-box protein) E3 ubiquitin ligase complex
- mediates the ubiquitination of proteins
- contributes to catalysis through recognition & positioning of substrate & the ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme
- during myogenesis, controls ubiquitination & degradation of the specific pool of CTNNB1/beta-catenin located at the sarcolemma
- ubiquitin conjugation, 3rd step
- part of a ECS complex consisting of TCEB2/Elongin B & TCEB1/Elongin C, a cullin family member & RING protein RBX1
- specifically interacts with CTNNB1
Structure
- SOCS domain mediates the interaction with TCEB1 & TCEB2
- NHR domain may be involved in ubiquitination substrate binding
- contains 1 NHR domain (neuralized homology repeat)
- contains 1 SOCS box domain
Compartment
Expression
- expressed specifically in skeletal & cardiac muscles
