- adapter protein located at the actin cytoskeleton
- promotes cell attachment
- role in migratory capacity of epithelial cells
- interacts with alpha-actinins ACTN1 & ACTN4, FLNA & MYH9

- contains 1 LIM zinc-binding domain
- contains 1 PDZ domain (DHR domain)

- isoforms 1 & 2: cytoplasm, cytoskeleton
- isoform 3: nucleus. may be partially nuclear
- isoform 1 colocalizes with beta-1 integrin (ITGB1) & alpha-actinin but not with paxillin

Pathology
- overexpression enhances cell adhesion to collagen & fibronectin & suppresses anchorage independent growth
- may contribute to tumor cell migratory capacity
