Function
- binds the ligand binding domain of the thyroid receptor in the presence of triiodothyronine & enhances THRB- modulated transcription
- Golgi auto-antigen
- probably involved in maintaining cis-Golgi structure
- binds RB1
Structure
- extended rod-like protein with coiled-coil domains
- contains 1 GRIP domain
Compartment
- Golgi apparatus, cis-Golgi network membrane
- peripheral membrane protein, cytoplasm, cytoskeleton
- associates with the ends of centrosome-nucleated microtubules
Expression
- highly expressed in pancreas, muscle, heart, testis, peripheral blood leukocytes, & in several leukemia cell lines
- detected at intermediate levels in placenta & kidney, & at low levels in brain & lung
Pathology
- chromosomal translocation t(5;14)(q33;q32) involving TRIP11 with PDGFRB may be a cause of acute myelogenous leukemia
- the fusion protein may be involved in clonal evolution of leukemia & eosinophilia
- defects in TRIP11 are the cause of achondrogenesis type 1A
