Function
- role in regulating T-helper cell differentiation by inhibition of the IL4 signaling pathway which promotes differentiation into the Th2 phenotype
- can also partially inhibit IL6 & LIF signaling (putative)
- may be a substrate- recognition component of a SCF-like ECS (elongin BC-CUL2/5-SOCS-box protein) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex which mediates ubiquitination & subsequent proteasomal degradation of target proteins (putative)
- protein modification; protein ubiquitination
- interacts, via the first 50 AA, with IL4RA (through a box 1-containing cytpolasmic domain) & inhibits IL4 signaling
Structure
- the SOCS box domain mediates the interaction with the elongin BC complex, an adapter module in different E3 ubiquitin ligase complexes (putative)
- contains 1 SH2 domain
- contains 1 SOCS box domain
