Function
- substrate-recognition component of an elongin-Cullin-SOCS-box protein (ECS) E3 ligase complex which mediates ubiquitination & subsequent proteasomal degradation of target proteins
- recognizes at least two forms of creatine kinase, CKB & CKMT1A
- protein modification; protein ubiquitination
Structure
- the SOCS box domain mediates the interaction with the elongin BC complex, an adapter module in different E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complexes (putative)
- contains 6 ANK repeats
- contains 1 SOCS box domain
Compartment
Alternative splicing
- named isoforms=3
- isoform 2 or 3 does not interact with the elongin BC complex; likely to be a negative regulator of isoform 1
Expression
- predominantly expressed in testis, kidney, & liver
