Function
- probable RNA helicase
- required for RNA-mediated gene silencing by the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC)
- required for both miRNA-mediated translational repression & miRNA-mediated cleavage of complementary mRNAs by RISC
- phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR
- interacts with DICER1, EIF2C1/AGO1, EIF2C2/AGO2, EIF6 & TARBP2
- associates with the 60S ribosome
ATP + H2O = ADP + phosphate
Structure
Compartment
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=3
Pathology
- also required for RNA-directed transcription & replication of the human hepatitis delta virus (HDV)
- interacts with small capped HDV RNAs
- derived from genomic hairpin structures that mark the initiation sites of RNA-dependent HDV RNA transcription
- interacts with the HDV antigen HDAg
