Introduction
Found in women with paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration.
Etiology
- associated with:
- ovarian carcinoma
- fallopian tube carcinoma
- endometrial carcinoma
- breast carcinoma
- lymphoma (less frequently)
NOT found in:
- men with paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration
- women with gynecologic cancer without neurologic syndrome
Laboratory
- Purkinje cell Ab in body fluid
- antibody directed against 34 & 62 kD leucine-zipper proteins.
- neuronal antigen:
- Purkinje cell cytoplasmic proteins
- p34 CDR34
- p62 CDR62-1
- p62 CDR62-2
Diagnostic procedures
- exploratory laparotomy indicated for women with anti-Yo & without laboratory-proven cancer
