Introduction

One of the proteases that cleaves the amyloid precursor protein with with a the N-terminal fragment into the exoplasmic space. Concerted activity of the beta & gamma secretase also result in formation of the A4 amyloid peptide (A-beta). Cleavage by alpha- secretase precludes formation of A-beta.
