Epidemiology
- uncommon
- 1% of patients with thrombosis
Laboratory
- low plasma fibrinogen by thrombin clotting method (50-130 mg/dL)
- prolonged dilute thrombin time
Management
- anticoagulation
- cryoprecipitate (as a source of fibrinogen) during surgery or following trauma
