Introduction
The clotting of blood within a blood vessel.
Epidemiology
- 2,000,000 deaths/year due to thrombotic events
- most common cause of death in US, includes
- more than 1/2 have acquired or inherited coagulation defect
Pathology
- arterial thrombosis & venous thrombosis manifestations of underlying hypercoagulability[4]
