Introduction
Etiology
- augmented arterial flow through engorged breasts
Epidemiology
- becomes audible during 3rd trimester of pregnancy or in the early postpartum period
Clinical manifestations
- continuous murmur on auscultation of the heart
- firm pressure with the diaphragm of the stethoscope can eliminate the diastolic portion of the murmur
- the murmur dissipates with time after delivery
