Laboratory
- do not order serum FSH, serum LH, serum estradiol or serum testosterone in children with pubic hair or body odor but without other signs of puberty[1]
- do not order laboratory testing for chronic illness or endocrine disease in healthy children >= 3rd% for height with appropriate weight gain[1]
- do not order serum vitamin D in healthy children, including those who are overweight or obese[1]
- do not order thyroid function tests or serum insulin in obese children[1]
Radiology
- do not order outine ultrasound of the thyroid in children with simple goiter or autoimmune thyroiditis
