Introduction

Formed by the inner surface of the hip bone, sacrum & coccyx.

The true pelvis is:

• between the pelvic inlet & pelvic outlet
• the location of pelvic viscera - the urinary bladder & reproductive organs such as the uterus & ovaries
• limited inferiorly by the musculofascial pelvic diaphragm

Clinical significance

• major obstetrical & gynecological significance
