Separates the greater pelvis from the lesser pelvis.

Bounded by:

• superior margin of the pubic symphysis anteriorly
• posterior border of the pubic crest
• pecten pubis
• arcuate line of ilium
• anterior border of the wing of sacrum
• sacral promontory.
