Structure
- fusion of the 5 sacral vertebrae into one bone, the sacrum, forms the posterior wall of the pelvis
- foramina bilaterally allow passage of the 5 sacral spinal nerves S1-S5.
Articulation
- the sacrum articulates with the 5th lumbar vertebra superiorly & the coccyx inferiorly
