Function

• motor function
  • S1-S2: plantar flexion of foot
  • S2-S4: rectal tone
• sensory function
  • S1: lateral foot

Structure

• nerves emerging from the sacral foramina (S1-S5)
• ventral ramiof S1-S3 enter into formation of the sacral plexus
• S4 & S5 enter into formation of the coccygeal plexus.
