Introduction
Study characteristics:
- 48,835 women, postmenopausal, mean age 62
- no breast or colon cancer, 3% with cardiovascular disease
- mean follow-up 8 years
Groups: low fat diet (20% fat) vs regular diet
No stratification based on type of fat
Outcome:
- breast cancer or colorectal cancer
- acute coronary syndrome, myocardial infarction
- stroke
- weight change
Results:
- NO difference in any outcome in the 2 groups, except low fat diet maintained lower weight than control group
